HOW TO USE AN

Aero Press

The AeroPress is a powerful little brewer that makes excellent coffee—fast and with impressive precision.

The best part? There’s no single "correct" way to use it. You can experiment with just about everything: grind size, coffee dose, water ratio, bloom time (or skip it), brew temperature, steep time, plunge time, and even the brew position—upright or inverted.

The possibilities are wide open, which is exactly what makes the AeroPress so fun to dial in.

1. Heat Your Water
Bring your water to a boil, then let it sit for about a minute to cool slightly. If you're using a temperature-controlled kettle, 195°F is a great starting point.

2. Prep the Filter
Place a paper filter in the AeroPress basket, screw it onto the bottom of the chamber, and rinse it with hot water. Discard the rinse water.

3. Grind Your Coffee
Grind one AeroPress scoop of beans (about 14–17g) to a medium-fine consistency—around setting 12 on a Baratza Encore.

4. Start the Bloom
Add the ground coffee to the AeroPress and pour hot water up to the “1” mark, making sure all the grounds are evenly saturated.

5. Plunge the Bloom
Wait 30 seconds, then slowly plunge the bloom into your mug until you hear a hissing sound.

6. Add More Water & Stir
Refill the AeroPress with hot water up to the “3” mark. Stir gently to mix.

7. Final Steep & Plunge
Let it steep for about 1 minute (or experiment with shorter or longer times), then plunge slowly until you hear that final hiss.

8. Enjoy
That’s it—your coffee is ready! Sip and enjoy, or tweak the recipe next time to dial in your perfect cup.
